RACIAL EQUITY OMBUDSPERSONS

ALLIES ADVOCATING

FOR EQUITY

Context…

Racial Equity Ombudsperson’s

REOs [ Pronounced, “RE-Os ]

REOs are Equity Ombudsmen (Black community members and white allies) who advocate for members of the Black community in racist situations/locations:
   * Employee Discrimination
   * Business/Store/Restaurant, etc. unjust, discriminatory action
   * School
   * Parents advocating at school
   * Attending Medical appointments
    …and MORE!

REOs will participate in the Act-Out Equity Sessions and receive training and role-play having confrontational / difficult conversations and MORE.

REOs will SignUp, in teams of three, to be on call one week of the month. If an incident happens, they will be contacted and reach out to the person(s) involved to set up a meeting to gather details from their perspective.

The REO teams will then meet to develop strategies for their meeting with the organization.

They will have a checklist of protocol / procedures to be used when addressing issues.

Currently, REOs are encouraged to
attend as many Act-Out Equity Sessions as possible.
We will soon have Sessions ONLY for them.
